Donald Glover

What do you think when the term talent comes to mind? While your looking up the definition, Donald Glover is redefining what it means to be a young black entertainer and he aims to bring new meaning to the word talented. The writer/actor has his hand in all aspects of the modern world of entertainment whether it be podcast from his stand-up acts on Comedy Central to the hit NBC prime-time show Community. The pen does not stop with television as Donald Glover lays down his neomatic, egocentric skills on the mic under the name Childish Gambino. His best work would have to be his writing on the critically acclaimed NBC show 30 Rock, produced by his mentor Tina Faye which won 30 Rock an Emmy and getting him a Writers Guild of America Award nomination in 2009.

Aside from his writing, producing, and music Donald led a nation wide campaign to become the first Black Spider-man in a motion picture but despite an endorsement from Marvel Comic Book founder Stan Lee his efforts was short lived. Looking forward Donald Glover seems to always have an eye out for what is trendy, fashionable, funny, and clever. The apple does not fall far from his charismatic character Troy on Community, but one thing that Donald wants the world to know and it’s that he takes his music seriously. Like most African-American males who were born into “well-off” families or theoretically not from poverty conditions, tend to get type casted as not hard enough for what is considered hip-hop. Accepting of what he is and what he is capable of gives Childish Gambino the freedom to explore avenues of music that most artists are not able to do. With an immature stage name Childish Gambino make no mistake that his content is for a 21+ crowd and nothing of what you would expect from a comedian/musician in comparison to Andy Samberg’s group, The Lonely Island. As the NBC season comes to a close for the summer, rumor has it that Donald is casted for the new The Muppets movie currently in production. If you are unfamiliar with Donald Glovers work as an actor, he has become a web sensation through shorts such as; Jerry, Girls Are Not To Be Trusted, Keyboard Kid, Celebrity, Robot Chicken, Emo Song, and Self Defense along with his popular self produced movie Mystery Team.
